Insurance is for suckers?

These stupid eye drops sting. Not as bad as eye surgery would, so I am not complaining... much. When we picked them up I about had a heart attack when she said that they were $30. For 5ml. That is $6 a stinking ml, people. People are complaining about spending $3 a gallon for gas, but $6 a ml for eye drops is ok??

Ahem.

Anyway... I was ticked. What the hell do we have insurance for? I mean, if these things are going to cost $30, why not just cancel the insurance and bank the money we pay in to it each and every paycheck and then use that money to blah, blah, blah. I think you know the rest.

And then I opened the bag and read the information they kindly printed out for me. That is where the breakdown of payment is, and where it mentions that the eye drops were $98.72.

Like I said... I am glad that we pay for insurance each and every paycheck.

My daughter has bad eczema sometimes and needs this steroid cream to get it under control. When I went to pick it up they told me that it was $40. For this 6 oz tube. I could scarcely believe it and our budget was really tight that week, so it was like 40% of our grocery money that week. I complained until they showed me the entire price of that tube is $270!!!

I may have left it there if it was for me but it is literally the only thing that helps when my daughter has a bad flare up. And it has lasted a long time. But still! Can you imagine a tube of cream for $270!

That really scares me because I have to go to the dermatologist to get steroid cream!

It is going to be fun explaining that Christmas is canceled because mom needed all this medicine. Just kidding... I think.
